gait analysis and running analysisGait analysis is a method used to assess the way in which we run or walk to determine if we have any biomechanical or structural abnormalities in our lower limbs and feet. By performing a gait analysis, we can understand a patient’s gait cycle and recommend the correct footwear and accompanying products for their running style. We will also develop a personalised exercise programme to address any biomechanical or structural abnormalities that could lead to injury or a less efficient gait.

At Tyrrell Physiotherapy, Swords, Co. Dublin the process will involve a full bio-mechanical assessment where we will assess the range of motion through your body. Then we will conduct a running analysis while on a treadmill. We may also video this, if appropriate and desired, and will discuss the outcome of this assessment with you. Then we can advise with regard to footwear, orthotics, accompanying products and demonstrate an exercise programme to address what we have seen on assessment. You will be provided with a printout of your exercise programme.

  • A full gait analysis will take 1 hour.
  • Please wear runner/walking shoes and shorts if possible.
  • If you have an exercise app/watch that tracks your running metrics please have this with you or have the ability to access these (username and password). The more data we have about your gait the better.

Walking and running gait analysis costs €100.
